Vocal Coach John Henny joins us this week to talk about the voice, overcoming imposter syndrome, and running a successful coaching business.

MENTIONS:

SINGING LESSONS:

  1. You need to embrace who you are, how you teach, and there’s somebody out there that really needs you, and to not shy away from letting people know that you’re out there, and that you can help them.
  2. Your teaching is going to evolve. Your teaching really is you. It’s essentially – you train your ears, you hear an issue. There are three questions that you’re always asking as a teacher. What am I hearing? Why am I hearing it? How do I fix it? The more you do it you’re just going to become better. It’s learning and experience.
  3. The quality of your thought is the quality of your singing.
  4. You need to really start hearing and breaking down what great singers are doing. They’re not just singing words and pitch. There’s a whole universe going on in a great vocal performance.
  5. Your mindset as a singer is really learning how to be present in this moment.
