MENTIONS:

SINGING LESSONS:

  1. Having your plan is essential. Have your dream list and goals for yourself.
  2. You have to be your own best boss.
  3. What’s always essential and it will never change is that you have to work your repertoire. Look for residencies, look for ways to be playing as often as possible. A residency doesn’t have to be a sexy club. It can just be a room where they need a singer and they have a good piano.
  4. There’s lots of hands out there ready to help.
  5. You have to be willing to be the producer, the booking agent, the graphic designer, the creator, the chief bottle washer – you have to be willing and able to do all of those jobs. You have to be some who can wear a lot of different hats.
  6. Figure out you. What about you is going to be the thing that will turn you on and that people are really going to want to come to see. It has to be more than being a good singer.
  7. Be willing to ask for help.
  8. Ask for lessons from people you want to study with. Nine times out of ten they’re probably teaching.
